Newtown Courtyard

The challenge was to generate a feeling of light and space within the tight confines of this site whilst creating privacy from neighbours at close quarters. Fast growing Bamboo and Ornamental Pear trees form the framework of a lush green planting scheme whilst hard wearing granite and hardwood timber provide functional ground surfaces. Innovative changes to the structure of the dwelling open up the narrow side passage for informal dining. From an unusable wasteland, this space has become truly beautiful.
